Job Opportunity: AIML Research Engineer for Wireless Systems, 3GPP Standards

InterDigital is seeking a talented AIML Research Engineer to join our Wireless Standards team. This role is specifically for our 3GPP RAN project, focused on applying AI/ML in wireless systems.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will join our Wireless Standards team, contributing to our AIML for 3GPP RAN project. With a strong theoretical background in artificial intelligence, neural networks, and machine learning, you will conduct research on applying AI/ML techniques in wireless systems. You will develop innovative solutions addressing advanced AI/ML deployments in future wireless systems, focusing on physical radio layer techniques (PHY Layer 1), medium access control (MAC Layer 2), and resource control functions (RRC Layer 3).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting research on fundamental and applied AI/ML techniques for the evolution and design of advanced 5G and 6G radio technologies.
  • Developing AI-driven solutions for L1/PHY, L2/MAC, and L3/RRM, including feedback compression, channel state prediction, beam management, mobility management, positioning, and sensing.
  • Supporting 3GPP standardization activities through AI/ML model preparation, simulations, and contributions to Radio Access Network (RAN) Working Groups (WG).

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • B.Eng., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related disciplines.
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience in machine learning with a strong theoretical understanding of various training methods and neural networks.
  • In-depth knowledge in machine learning, deep learning, data mining, and optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Strong analytical, technical, innovative, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Experience with wireless communications and signal processing is an advantage.
  • Experience with GitHub/GitLab, Matlab, NS-3, C/C++, and Python is beneficial.
