About the Team
Become a part of our dynamic team, utilizing a sophisticated database of over 100 million homes, transactions, and users to predict and analyze housing market trends. As an Applied Scientist with a specialization in econometrics and machine learning, focusing on time series and hierarchical forecasting, you will be instrumental in enhancing our understanding and forecasting capabilities within the housing market.

About the Role

As an Applied Scientist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborative Forecast Development: Collaborate with applied scientists, data scientists, and economists to develop hierarchical forecasts for various regional housing markets.
  • Feature Extraction: Identify economic and demographic drivers of housing market growth and extract predictive features for trends 1 to 2 years into the future.
  • Model Deployment: Work closely with the engineering team to deploy models into production environments.
  • Forecast Production: Contribute to the monthly forecast production and communicate insights to business partners and senior leadership.
  • Scenario Modeling: Develop models that capture a wide range of housing market outcomes for a company-wide stress-testing framework.

This role is categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office and can work from any location in the U.S., with certain exceptions.

Salary Information

For employees in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC, the base pay range for this role is $132,400.00 - $211,600.00 annually. Compensation may vary based on experience, performance, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is eligible for equity awards.

Who You Are

We're looking for someone with:

  • Strong Interest in Housing Market: A keen observer with an understanding of economic factors impacting the housing market.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving Skills: Passionate about time series, panel data, and hierarchical forecasting, conducting independent research, and applying it to real-world problems.
  • Technical Proficiencies: Expertise in econometric methods and machine learning techniques, data cleaning, preprocessing, feature engineering, model evaluation, and validation strategies. Proficient in large-scale datasets and distributed computing frameworks like Spark, cloud-based platforms, and software development best practices.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Capable of conveying complex concepts to a broad audience effectively.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in time series/spatial forecasting.
  • Educational Background: Master's or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Econometrics, Physics, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
