We are looking for an experienced Autonomy System Architect to manage and direct the development of system architecture for our autonomous mining equipment at Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co. Key Responsibilities:

As an Autonomy System Architect, you will:

• Lead the development and integration of system architecture, including sensors, hardware, and software.
• Conduct research on hardware solutions to enhance control and support systems in autonomous haulage.
• Define system architecture requirements and develop comprehensive project plans.
• Collaborate with internal teams for joint development and system integration.
• Provide expertise in AHS architecture design and offer technical support for customer projects.
• Write specifications for software modules and manage internal development of software solutions.
• Handle project management duties such as scheduling, estimating, and tracking project milestones.
• Research and analyze design proposals and provide technical guidance within the engineering team.

Required Competencies and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering with over 4 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in autonomous haulage systems, embedded systems, Linux based systems, and Realtime Operating Systems.
• Strong knowledge of programming languages such as BASH, C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with software containers like Docker, and an understanding of various communication protocols and interfaces.
• Project management skills and familiarity with tools like Microsoft Project and Jenkins.
• The ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
• A valid driver’s license and passport.
