About the Role

At Datacom, we have been accurately and compliantly processing payroll for over 50 years. The Principal Data Engineer is a new position responsible for leading the data aspects of our next generation SaaS Payroll Product, Datapay. This role focuses on totally revolutionizing the way our product handles data. The ideal candidate is an experienced hands-on developer who is involved in all stages of data development, from architecture and technical design to implementation and engagement with internal customers.

In this technical leader position, you will work in cooperation with the Product and Design team, Technical Leads/Architects, and Development teams. Your role will be critical in the design, development, and implementation of our payroll solution platform. You will be expected to create design patterns, mentor engineers, set coding standards, and ensure end-to-end work quality.

What you’ll bring: Expertise and Experience

• Expertise in database technologies such as relational, NoSQL and graph.
• Experience in developing event-driven architectures that enable seamless integration and real-time data processing.
• Experience in integrating old and new platforms through data architecture.
• Although deep data knowledge is a requirement, you should be familiar with current software toolsets such as C#/.Net, C#/.Net Core.
• Experience leading teams through domain-driven design.
• Collaboration experience with cross-functional teams to identify and define domain models, maintaining data consistency and integrity.
• Experience in implementing and optimizing data storage solutions, ensuring data encryption, access controls, and compliance with data privacy regulations.

Responsibilities

• Leading development teams through influence, reporting on progress, and planning.
• Designing, coding, and testing applications in a major language or across multiple platforms.
• Constantly capturing knowledge as part of your work.
• Mentoring developers in technical and other complementary team skills.
• Ensuring systems are developed within the agreed budget and timeframe and adhere to design and systems security standards.
• Overseeing the programming, debugging, and modification of the Datapay software.
• Working closely with Product and Engineering teams to deliver quality solutions on time.
• Leading communication and collaboration across Development, Design, and Product teams to align and deliver successful outcomes.
