This critical role is responsible for defining and implementing our Data Strategy and Data Policy to drive our organization forward. You'll leverage data to create substantial business value and ensure the seamless implementation of our Data Governance Framework. Take the lead in transforming us into a data-driven organization.
Role Responsibilities
As the Chief Data Officer, you will:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy to leverage data assets, enhance customer experience, and boost our competitive edge.
- Collaborate with business leaders to identify and deliver data-driven opportunities for growth and efficiency.
- Cultivate a data-driven culture that supports strategic decision-making through analytics.
- Define and execute data management strategies aligned with both Group Data Strategy and local business objectives.
- Ensure data is managed as a strategic asset and maintain quality across all systems and environments.
- Maintain and update the Data & AI Governance framework, policies, and procedures.
- Implement data and AI initiatives in line with industry regulations, especially data privacy and security.
- Develop data and AI literacy programs to equip employees with necessary skills and knowledge.
- Build and manage a high-performing data team.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex data concepts in English and Japanese.
- Proven experience in leading data and AI initiatives with a focus on data strategy execution.
- Strong analytical skills to apply data-driven insights to business challenges.
- Expertise in analytics tools such as Python, SQL, and Hadoop.
- Experience in modeling for insights derivation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or Business Administration; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of data management technologies, including data warehouses, data lakes, ETL tools, analytics platforms, and AI technologies.
- Understanding of data privacy and security regulations.

Additional Information
Primary work location can be flexible, with frequent work required at our Higashi Nakano office. Minimal travel is expected.
Location: Tokyo Headquarters Office (3-14-20 Higashi Nakano, Tokyo) or Hybrid Work
Employment Type: Full-Time
Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1-hour break)
