We are heycar

Since August 2019, we have been setting new standards for customers looking for their next vehicle, and car dealers who want to sell them.

With global investments from Volkswagen, Allianz and Renault, we bring the best and most reliable dealerships across the UK closer to their customers. How? By making the right connections. We provide customers with the confidence they need to buy quality cars online in a completely remote experience.

We are building a culture that allows team members to feel challenged and empowered to make significant changes. We may come from different backgrounds, industries and skills, but we are all working towards the same goal.

About the role

As a Data Analyst, you will be a key part of the daily operations of heycar UK. You will work across all areas of the business, including Marketing, Sales and eCommerce. You will closely align with our Performance Insight Director to ensure the correct and consistent interpretation of data across markets.

The main function of your role is to gather information from various sources and interpret patterns and trends, while also providing recommendations for optimization. You will report to the Chief of Staff and work closely with the UK Leadership team on key business priorities, with a dotted line to the Performance Insight Director.

What you will do:

  • Engage with business units and stakeholders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) that need to be tracked daily, weekly, and monthly
  • Analyze performance metrics to provide a summary of historical trends, such as seasonality, peak periods, or the relationship between two variables
  • Create data visualization, you will know which charts to use where, how variables/types of data should be compared, how to label an axis, and where to use them
  • Compare KPIs across different time frames, products, or other business dimensions by building dashboards and creating straightforward analyses in GSheets
  • Develop insights based on the interpreted data to suggest potential business strategies
  • Track the outcomes of implemented recommendations to gauge their effectiveness and recalibrate strategies as necessary
  • Understand and document current business processes to identify areas for improvement or analysis

What you will need:

Essential

  • Experience: at least 5 years experience in data analysis, preferably within a business that is mainly digitally driven from a marketing perspective. You should also understand the commercial side of a business, how it generates revenue and how revenue can be optimized
  • Skills: Ability to write SQL for analysis and data visualization
  • Communication: the ability to convince, unite, and communicate data findings in a simple and easy-to-understand manner
  • Startup mentality: we are four years old, and our data may not be perfect, but that shouldn't stop you from proving or disproving a hypothesis
  • Network: stakeholder management is critical to this role. You will need to interpret the needs of the business, clarify briefs, and prioritize your workload based on the business needs

Desirable:

  • Systems: knowledge of HEX (our data visualization tool) or any other visualization tool (Looker, Tableau, etc)
  • Experience: Prior experience in a marketplace/eCommerce business
