Position Summary: Data Engineer II

As a Data Engineer II at AccuWeather, you will impact our mission through innovation, enhancing our ability to deliver superior weather products. You will have a pivotal role in developing and maintaining our robust data infrastructure, ensuring efficient data processing, analysis, and reporting. This role requires a proficiency in Databricks and involves collaboration with our data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to uphold the excellence of our data platforms.

Location options include either our global headquarters in State College, PA, or working remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Data Pipelines: Design and maintain scalable data pipelines utilizing Databricks, Spark, and other technologies.
  • Data Processing Optimization: Enhance data workflows for improved performance and efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Work seamlessly with various teams to understand requirements and deploy scalable data solutions.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Oversee the data platforms and resolve any operational issues.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Apply comprehensive best practices in data modeling and ETL processes.
  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of data solutions to facilitate knowledge sharing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in Data Engineering, specializing in Databricks, Spark, and cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and integration concepts.
  • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and team collaboration skills.
