Job Description

We are currently seeking a talented Staff Data Engineer to help expand our global platform. This role requires a professional who can maintain scalability, reliability, and security while tackling algorithmic challenges involving data collection, processing, and evaluation.

About Your Team

You will be an integral part of the Servicing Data Engineering team. This team is vital in enabling data practitioners to swiftly explore new risk assessments and productionize them through dependable, scalable, and observable data pipelines. A key project will be contributing to the development of Wise’s in-house Feature Platform, which will serve as the source-of-truth for ML and rule-based risk assessments in our extensive data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance within Wise's data engineering community.
  • Handle complex technical problems and drive discussions across different teams.
  • Develop and articulate the vision for data engineering, securing buy-in from stakeholders and leadership.
  • Manage, review, and contribute to pull requests.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience with Java 11+ or Python, with the readiness to learn the latter quickly.
  • At least 3 years of experience with both batch and stream processing, preferably with Apache Spark and Flink.
  • Proven expertise in working with complex systems distributed across various microservices.
  • Strong product mindset and a passion for user experience, using data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and proficiency in system integration patterns.
