Since its inauguration in 2008, Ubisoft Singapore has evolved to become the largest AAA game development studio in Southeast Asia. Job Description

As a Data Engineer, you'll build sturdy data pipelines to handle millions of in-game data points daily utilizing Big Data technology. Working closely with our data engineers/analysts/scientists and the Ubisoft data platform team, you'll ensure efficient and reliable processing of the collected information. Your role is critical within the development and maintenance lifecycle of our video games. Insights from the data will assist our production teams in providing an enhanced experience to our players.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In three months:

  • Become familiar with the global services, tools, and processes Ubisoft uses to gather large-scale in-game data;
  • Learn about the actual ETL pipelines by our teams at Ubisoft Singapore that extract in-game metrics;
  • Understand essential business metrics for AAA games and how that affects our pipelines.

In six months:

  • Maintain and monitor our ETL pipelines to ensure high data availability;
  • Implement flows to gather new information;
  • Collaborate with our web developer to contribute to our web platform, making data easily accessible;
  • Forge a solid relationship with our data analysts, working alongside them to deliver timely insights.

In twelve months:

  • Work with the global Ubisoft Data Platform team to keep our practices current;
  • Increase the efficiency and scalability of our data pipelines by implementing the latest recommended tools and methodologies;
  • Incorporate monitoring and testing tools to react swiftly when the complex flows are interrupted due to changes.

After this period, you will be able to:

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the Ubisoft data ecosystems;
  • Make autonomous changes to our data pipelines to improve efficiency, scalability, and usability;
  • Employ new tools to ease your work and ensure high availability;
  • Maintain an efficient working relationship with all mentioned teams and reach out to them as required;
  • Become the gatekeeper of Ubisoft Singapore data pipelines.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Up to 2 years of experience in a related field (gaming, advertising, analytics, technology, data, or business intelligence) or a Master's degree in Software Development or a Data Engineering-related field;
  • In-depth understanding of Data Warehouses;
  • Proficient in writing efficient SQL queries;
  • Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably Python;
  • Culturally adaptable and enjoy working and communicating with teams from different countries.

Desired:

  • Experience with Big Data ecosystems (Spark, Hive, Airflow, etc.);
  • Experience with containerization (Docker);
  • Familiarity with Linux system administration;
  • Familiarity with a version control system (Git);
  • The interest in gaming.
