This role is integral to our New Zealand Data team, focused on innovations in customer remediation, data warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Analytics.

About the Role

In the capacity of a Chapter Lead, specializing in either Engineering or Business Analyst disciplines, you will become the cornerstone of expertise and a leader nurturing the growth and capability of 5 to 9 team members. Your role will involve steering the direction of data priorities and infusing approximately 20-30% of your time in hands-on squad activities, which include complex business analysis, data modeling, or visualization tasks.

Key Responsibilities

As a Chapter Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Defining and refining the frameworks, standards, and practices for your team.
• Collaborating with Principal Engineers and other Chapter Leads to enhance best practices and documentation.
• Providing leadership and coaching in state-of-the-art methodologies.
• Participating in project deliveries and enhancing cross-squad SME contributions.
• Handling complex or critical data inquiries and creating a thriving community culture with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Developing innovative approaches to tackle challenges within your discipline.
• Managing and mentoring chapter members, partnering effectively with Platform and Product Owners to ensure alignment of skills and goals.

What You Will Bring

Essential Skills and Experience:

• In-depth technical expertise in your field.
• Proven leadership experience with capabilities in coaching and team development.
• Solid background in managing direct reports and leading agile teams.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to propose alternative solutions.
• At least 5+ years of engineering experience, particularly in data warehouse design and problem resolution on platforms like GCFR and FSDM.

• Agile delivery experience.
• Background in financial services or banking, specifically in data-driven decision-making roles.
• Knowledge of APIs, containerization, automation, and CI/CD.
