Role Overview

We are actively seeking ML/AI specialists at all seniority levels to join the Qualco Centre for Applied Research and Technology (QART). At QART, we are rapidly expanding our activities in ML/AI, particularly focusing on Image Processing and Computer Vision. Our initiatives cover object identification and labelling, semantic segmentation, and object tracking. The images/streaming videos we work with are generated by remote sensing platforms, aerial-based photography, drones, and static cameras, utilizing various sensors including optical or thermal, SAR, LIDAR, and similar technologies. Our ultimate objectives include UAV autonomy, situational awareness, medical imaging applications, fault/defect detection in manufacturing processes, and more.

A Day in the Life of a Data Scientist at Qualco

  • Conducting exploratory data analysis and model-fitting to identify data features of interest.
  • Identifying and analyzing anomalous data, including metadata.
  • Developing conceptual designs and models to meet project requirements.
  • Utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing datasets.
  • Performing analytic modeling, scripting, and programming.
  • Creating and utilizing simulation environments.
  • Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for visualization and user interaction.
  • Collaborating iteratively throughout the data-science lifecycle.
  • Documenting, evaluating, and communicating research processes, analyses, and results to customers, peers, and leadership.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the Group Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in designing and implementing machine learning, data mining, and advanced analytical algorithms.
  • Proven experience in deep learning.
  • Proficiency in Matlab and/or Python, or other similar programming languages.
  • Familiarity with Scikit-learn, Keras/TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other machine-learning frameworks.
  • Good knowledge of SQL.
  • Attributes like tenacity, integrity, persistence, and a willingness to learn.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and reasoning capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and team-playing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Fluency in Greek and English, both spoken and written.
