Job Title: Data Scientist at BT Group

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist, you will:

  • Generate critical insights on FTTP service performance, identifying key areas for immediate action and improvement.
  • Explore and analyze both internal and external data sources to develop innovative modeling approaches.
  • Act as the subject matter expert, providing balanced operational and transformational perspectives to ensure alignment across the board.
  • Tackle complex business problems through robust multi-source data analytics employing descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to pinpoint challenges and focus analysis on agreed-upon areas.
  • Deliver detailed analyses and insights, identifying main drivers of KPI changes and quantifying their impacts.
  • Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, offering a clear view of performance outcomes.
  • Provide essential data for regulatory reviews and requests when necessary.

Required Skills and Experience

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • Advanced knowledge in programming languages such as Python or R, and database querying languages like SQL, HQL, or BigQuery.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, and optimization algorithms.
  • A strong capability to apply analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and contextual understanding.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to simplify complex information and advocate for change.
  • Relevant experience in an operational or transformational role, preferably with a background in FTTP operations.
  • Experience with AI and Machine Learning in a commercial setting.
  • A results-driven approach, aimed at delivering measurable value to stakeholders.
  • A solid track record of building and maintaining relationships with senior-level stakeholders.
