About the Role

We are seeking a knowledgeable Data Scientist to lead initiatives in data munging, processing, and analysis. This crucial role supports the GeoCenter’s mission to implement geospatial technology and data analytics enhancing USAID’s program planning, monitoring, and evaluation across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to tackle development challenges and boost geospatial data integration into decision-making processes.
  • Perform advanced data integration, visualization, mining, and analysis to derive actionable insights.
  • Create and implement data visualization products including maps to aid in all stages of USAID operations.
  • Work alongside an interdisciplinary team at the GeoCenter, promoting data literacy through training and support to non-technical audiences.
  • Communicate analytical findings effectively through presentations and briefings to stakeholders.
  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously and keep pace with technological advancements in AI and Machine Learning relevant to geospatial applications in development.

Position Requirements:

  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.
  • Proven experience in Data Science, with a Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience or a Master’s degree and 2+ years of experience in relevant fields like Statistics, Geography, or Computer Science.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Python, R, Stata, MATLAB, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) and design software (Adobe Suite).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with international teams.
