MetLife is on the lookout for an experienced and highly skilled Director of Engineering to head our Data Engineering team in Hyderabad. The chosen leader will oversee data engineers and analysts, playing a pivotal role in designing, developing, and sustaining our data engineering infrastructure. This role includes the creation of scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data hubs/data lakes, upholding data quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide business insights and analytics. Key Responsibilities:

* Oversea the design and implementation of scalable cloud-based data hubs and lakes.

* Strategize on data ingestion, curation, and consumption across the company.

* Design and develop robust data pipelines and organizational data assets.

* Enforce data governance policies ensuring data security, integrity, and quality.

* Drive data quality initiatives, set, and oversee data quality metrics in collaboration with various teams.

* Develop and implement an organizational data analytics strategy.

* Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to meet data requirements and business needs.

* Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the data engineering team, identifying skills gaps and promoting a learning culture.

Candidate Qualifications:

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

* Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

* At least 12-15 years in data engineering, particularly in cloud-based solutions like Azure data hubs.

* Experience in data lakes, large-scale data processing frameworks (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

* Skilled in Python, Java, SQL, and familiar with database technologies.

* Proven ability in data warehousing and analytics frameworks, with a strong grasp of data governance.

* Excellent capaculty to guide, inspire, and foster an innovative and cooperative team environment.
