Job Description
This role will support Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Zero (VX-20) for E-2C/D developmental test and evaluation at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Patuxent River, MD.
- Participate in E-2 developmental flight testing as a Test Weapon System Operator.
- Conduct tasks supporting flight testing such as developing test plans and detailed test procedures, pre-mission planning, mission briefing, functional check and engineering test flights, simulator device evaluation, data collection during ground and flight tests, post-flight liaison with maintenance and engineering representatives, mission debriefing, drafting post-flight reports and deficiencies, and attending technical meetings.
Most tasks will take place on-site at NAS Patuxent River, MD, though some domestic travel may be required to support flight test activities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of ten years of work experience (an engineering/technical degree is preferred but not required).
- Graduate from U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (TPS), U.S. Air Force TPS, Empire TPS, or EPNER TPS is a plus.
- At least 1000 hours in Navy aircraft and 500 hours in E-2C/D.
- Past or current designation as an E-2 Combat Information Center Officer (CICO), Mission Commander (MC), and Air Intercept Controller (AIC).
- E-2D experience and two years of RDT&E flight experience are desirable, but not mandatory.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and operate autonomously at remote work sites.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and similar productivity applications.
- Ability to pass physical and training qualification requirements, including US Navy aviation physiology and water survival qualifications, and FAA Class II flight physical.
- Active secret-level security clearance is mandatory. The selected applicant may undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility for access to classified information.
