Job Responsibilities

As an Environmental Data Specialist, you will:

  • Manage all aspects of the Environmental/ESG data collection process including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring, expediting, summarizing, and communicating progress at regular intervals to ensure the organization meets its annual Environmental/ESG reporting deadlines.
  • Identify and address limitations of Environmental/ESG data.
  • Aggregate Environmental/ESG data as necessary to support the organization's sustainability reporting.
  • Understand our evolving Environmental/ESG data needs, how our current data meets those needs; identify, evaluate, and recommend complementary data sets.
  • Analyze existing Environmental/ESG data sources and methodologies for accuracy.
  • Contribute to the development of dashboards or Power BI’s to improve Environmental/ESG process integration where applicable.
  • Recommend and support the implementation of data solutions for evolving external reporting needs, including regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that data collection, analysis, and reporting projects are completed on time and within estimated costs.
  • Develop and maintain associated documentation and communications.
  • Gather, organize, and interpret statistical data from the database to provide reports to, and answer questions from, upper management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience Required

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least three years in Data Processing, with a minimum of two years of experience with database management systems.
  • A passion for sustainability issues and corporate responsibility.
  • Experience in the nuances of specific Environmental/ESG data sets, data structure and quality of Environmental/ESG ratings, scores, and other data sets is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • General experience utilizing business intelligence platforms and data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of computer languages used within database design and construction.
