About the Role

You will be joining a dynamic team of Enterprise Technology analysts who work in a fast-paced environment to deliver cutting-edge solutions. You will be responsible for the design, configuration, operation, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise applications including Gtech, ESRI, Synergi, LoadSEER, and AutoCAD. These applications must be reliable, accessible, and meet the business unit's needs.

Purpose

To provide specialized business process and technical support by utilizing SMUD's various enterprise and integrated technology solutions in design, configuration, operation, maintenance, and enhancement. You will function as a resource to the user community, ensuring reliability, accessibility, and effectiveness to meet business unit needs.

Nature and Scope

This is an intermediate-level role within the Enterprise Technology Analyst classification series which includes entry (E), intermediate (I), and journey (J) levels. As an intermediate analyst, you will become familiar with:

  • Enterprise Systems Design
  • Enterprise Applications: Modifications & Enhancements
  • Enterprise Applications: Optimization
  • Enterprise System Reporting
  • Project Management

You will gradually take on increasingly complex assignments in one or more specialty areas, ultimately leading to journey-level performance. Positions are typically filled by progression from entry-level or other internal areas where candidates gain knowledge of enterprise technology applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Enterprise Systems Design

  • Design and configure enterprise technology solutions to support business units.
  • Collaborate with process owners to develop detailed designs and user requirements.
  • Address integration issues, develop testing criteria, and plan implementation strategies.
  • Communicate technical information to the user community.

Enterprise Applications - Modifications and Enhancements

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current technology and assess the need for enhancements.
  • Identify changes, perform workflow evaluation, and revise system requirements.
  • Design and integrate modifications, develop testing criteria, and provide technical consultation.

Enterprise Applications - Optimization

  • Offer technical support, establish training needs, and develop training material.
  • Troubleshoot user obstacles and provide technical consultation and solutions.

Enterprise System Reporting

  • Design user reports to provide business necessity information.
  • Produce standard and custom reports, perform ad-hoc queries, and modify forms.

Project Management

  • Plan, review, coordinate, and guide internal/external business unit projects.
  • Communicate with team members and incorporate their input into processes and techniques.
  • Administer the department budget and participate in planning and monitoring.

Perform other related duties as needed, including working outside of typical business hours when necessary.

Required Education and Experience

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Experience: One or more years of relevant work as an analyst or five or more years within a business unit with broad and deep knowledge of business processes and technology.
