Hydro’s group Information & Technology (GRIT) is seeking a highly skilled professional for the new position of Head of Data Governance.

Your Role as Head of Data Governance

The Head of Data Governance will play a crucial role in overseeing the establishment, implementation, and safeguarding of data governance at Hydro. Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring clear data ownership and accountability, encouraging desirable behavior in data management, and minimizing risks associated with data misuse or loss.

Additionally, you will drive and facilitate the Data Governance Council to ensure that Hydro’s IT and digital environments are always safeguarded.

Key Responsibilities

General:

  • Establish and implement Hydro’s global data governance policy and framework.
  • Support a thriving enactment of the data governance policy through a data governance operating model, ensuring solid data ownership.
  • Implement and sustain clear roles and responsibilities linked to data.

Data Governance and Compliance:

  • Define and implement Hydro’s global data governance policy and framework.
  • Test, verify, and report on the data governance framework's effectiveness and value across Hydro.
  • Establish data policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation and future-proofing for upcoming regulations.
  • Ensure the organization's data is accessible, secure, and of adequate quality for decision-making.

Strategy & Analytics:

  • Contribute to the data & analytics strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Implement KPIs and metrics to measure the success of data governance initiatives.
  • Support and foster competency in relevant areas for data governance.
  • Align with business needs to support value creation through well-governed data.

Your Qualifications and Skills

We are seeking candidates with the following:

  • Master's degree in business administration, STEM, computer science, data science, information systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience. Legal and regulatory training is a plus.
  • Several years of business experience in a similar role, ideally with expertise in business management, legal, financial, IT management, and at or near the management level.
  • Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and policies.
  • Desirable strategy and management consulting experience.
  • Proven leadership and ability to engage and encourage stakeholders.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality, data management, metadata management, data platforms, and analytics.
  • Proficient communicator in English, with additional fluency in Norwegian being a strong positive.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated, adaptable, proactive, and resilient.
