Role Overview: Lead Data Engineer

As a Lead Data Engineer at Kingfisher, you'll work closely with your team and the Principal Engineer. You will lead the design and architecture of new features and pipelines, act as a point of escalation, and unblock technical or project-related issues to maintain progress. Your role will also focus on driving continuous improvement in engineering and agile practices, ensuring high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in an agile team and collaborate with other teams.
  • Mentor and manage other Data Engineers.
  • Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of new features.
  • Support the Principal Data Engineer with resourcing and daily management duties.
  • Promote TDD to develop operationally maintainable solutions.
  • Be an active member of Kingfisher's technical lead team to define development processes and code quality standards.

Skills and Experience

  • Background in developing or engineering large-scale distributed data processing systems.
  • Expertise in data modeling, testing, quality, access, and storage.
  • Programming skills in languages within our data ecosystem (Python, SQL).
  • Experience with cloud data technologies on GCP or Azure.
  • Knowledge in shortening development lead time and improving data processes.
  • Proficient in good data pipeline implementation and design (Kimball/Star Schema).
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes.
