We are looking for a skilled leader for our Medical Data Science department, embracing challenges in early detection, diagnostics, and therapy of diseases, with a special emphasis on immune system disorders.

Role Overview:

As the leader of the Medical Data Science innovation field, you’ll shape the future of digitalized health research. Your role involves:

  • Collaborating closely with Data Scientists across various Fraunhofer ITMP locations and managing the Data Science team in Hamburg.
  • Engaging in agile project management to systematically advance Fraunhofer’s digital medicine solutions.
  • Developing a market-ready product portfolio and enhancing resources through the acquisition of third-party funding.
  • Implementing FAIR data strategies and advancing scientific data management across internal and external collaborations.
  • Coordinating projects within national and international consortia and promoting the integration of high-throughput lab data handling.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A PhD or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Experience in scientific data management or data engineering.
  • Expertise in the application of data standards, ontologies, and conducting both static and dynamic analyses of data sets.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R, and familiarity with statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Fluency in English; German language skills are beneficial.
