Job Summary

Due to growth, BWX Technologies – Barberton, OH location is seeking a Production Planning Data Analyst. This position will utilize Power BI to develop, implement, and manage key business metrics, performance indicators, and reporting across diverse data sets to identify opportunities to improve business and manufacturing processes. This role involves cross-departmental collaboration and data management throughout the business. The position will provide the data and information required to drive impactful business improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop user-friendly Power BI reports, dashboards, and interactive visualizations to meet business requirements.
  • Extract, transform, and load data from various sources such as SAP into Power BI for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Develop, automate, and maintain data pipelines and integration for analytics and data modeling.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate them into effective BI solutions.
  • Enhance existing data reporting, dashboards, and information-sharing tools to improve production and cost and schedule performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to organize and present data and information to improve decision-making for production planning and project management.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business decision-making.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI usage and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Develop and maintain data models, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings.
  • Ensure Physical Percent Complete projections are accurate by reviewing financial and scheduler analysis/trends and working closely with Project Management, Finance, and Estimating.
  • Research, evaluate, and understand production processes to develop standards and metrics related to manufacturing performance.
  • Develop database queries to make data-driven decisions and perform process monitoring related to shop and contract performance using statistical methods.
  • Collaborate with production planning and engineering to develop long-range forecasts with computer-based models.
  • Formally document standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience with Power BI.
  • 2 years of SAP experience.
  • 2 years of Python and SQL skills with database query.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to practice clear, concise, and result-oriented communication to convey and coordinate technical exchanges internally and externally.
  • Self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple manufacturing teams and systems.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Other analytical programming skills, such as C++ or R, are a plus.
  • Skills related to working with sensors to extract data into unstructured datasets are desirable.
  • Experience with statistical techniques, machine learning methods, or design of experiments is a plus.
