About IFF Pharma Solutions

IFF's Pharma Solutions business focuses on Technology and Process expertise to maintain a competitive edge. As a Process Research Engineer I, you will collaborate with various functions including R&D, Innovation, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Technology, and Marketing. Your primary focus will be on Methocel, Ethocel, and Polyox product lines for food and nutrition applications within the Process R&D team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Process Research Engineer / Technologist, you will:

  • Utilize engineering and chemical research to generate new process capabilities enhancing cost efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Define optimal process conditions for products used in food and beverages, pharmaceutical excipients, personal care products, and industrial additives.
  • Develop and document process technology information.
  • Lead multiple projects, design experiments, and deliver high-quality data.
  • Troubleshoot commercial manufacturing processes.
  • Scale up new process technology through lab, pilot, and production trials.
  • Apply and develop analytical techniques to assess process performance, product quality, and by-products.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or applied associates degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or relevant professional experience, including military experience.
  • A proven track record in research supporting product or process development with strong scientific skills across lab, pilot, and production scales.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting tools and equipment.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and successfully design, execute, analyze, and summarize laboratory and pilot scale trials.
  • Strong data analysis and technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English.

Location & Working Conditions

This full-time position is located on-site in Midland, MI, USA. Some travel may be required (<10%).
