Join NOV’s esteemed team in Navi Mumbai as a Quality Engineer. As part of our Quality team, you will drive initiatives to reduce costs associated with non-quality and minimize customer escapes. Your primary assignment will be the Assembly Shop, with duties extending to other departments based on demand. Collaborate with departmental leaders to align quality objectives seamlessly across teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform all incoming, process, and final inspection activities.
- Verify raw materials and inspect machined and fabricated components and bought-out items.
- Review and approve quality documents during inward inspection.
- Conduct physical inspections of parts at vendor locations as needed.
- Ensure products meet organizational and customer quality and integrity requirements.
- Monitor and assist with ongoing Quality Performance of approved suppliers.
- Maintain Rejection & Rework records.
- Identify root causes of problems in the manufacturing process and recommend corrective measures.
- Analyze data to identify trends in product quality or defects to mitigate and prevent recurrence.
- Communicate with vendors regarding non-conformities and document vendor CAPA.
- Conduct root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why’s, Ishikawa Fishbone Diagram, and 8D problem-solving.
- Assess and approve new suppliers for business.
- Conduct periodic re-qualification audits of existing vendors.
- Handle customer complaints and analyze data for resolution.
- Provide quarterly inspection data and quality assurance reports to senior management.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Department-specific Duties
- Act as the focal point for all quality issues and successful implementation of remedies.
- Lead and manage improvement activities focused on Cost Quality & Schedule Adherence.
- Manage Material Review Board (MRB) activities and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA).
- Map existing processes using suitable tools to understand Suppliers, Inputs, Outputs, & Customers.
- Develop processes to facilitate risk reduction and lean operations.
- Create and deploy Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions (WIs).
- Ensure adherence to internal and external customer/regulatory requirements.
- Drive improvement activities within assigned departments.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
- Develop and deploy quality tools like p/d FMEA, MSA, 8D Problem Solving, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Represent the quality function during reviews.
- Measure and report performance KPIs as required.
- Compile quality-specific reports and technical documentation.
Skills & Experience Required
Strategic
- Proficiency in Quality and Continual Improvement tools (e.g., p/d FMEA, APQP, PPAP, 5S, Lean, SPC).
- Understanding of technical drawings including GD&T.
- Auditing experience is a plus.
- Exposure to Industry 4.0, including semi-autonomous and mobile platforms, is beneficial.
- Minitab user experience is advantageous.
