Job Description
AECOM is recruiting an Environmental/Wetland Scientist to join our Madison, WI office to assist with projects in the Midwest. We're seeking an Environmental Scientist with ecological experience to collaborate with our multi-disciplinary teams and provide support in various areas, among them wetland science and delineation, T&E habitat evaluations and species surveys, environmental permitting, and ArcGIS mapping.
This position provides opportunities for growth in areas of interest, allowing the right candidate to assume additional responsibilities over time.
The role’s duties include, but are not limited to:
- Execute standard scientific work requiring the application of techniques and procedures.
- Use scientific principles, theories, practices, and available technologies to develop solutions for a wide spectrum of challenging issues.
- Interpret and document data, runs analyses, compare results to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Provide support for field initiatives, including wetland delineations, plant sampling, biological evaluations, and/or T&E habitat evaluations and surveys.
- Compose written technical reports and environmental analysis papers, and graphical reports. Prepare basic data and scientific documents.
- Perform detailed work in a highly organized manner.
- Develop and maintain GIS databases, reports, and maps.
- Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes.
- Ensure the quality of GIS data and associated graphic components.
- Apply concepts, practices, and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Biology, Wetland Science, Environmental Science, or a related field, with 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience and/or education.
- Valid Driver’s License Required
Preferred Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in a related field
- 3 years or more of experience specializing in natural resource/wetlands projects.
- Experience conducting wetland delineations, and knowledge of plant identification, soils, and hydrology.
- Experience preparing environmental permitting applications and technical reports.
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Adept computer skills; Word, Excel, and ArcGIS are desirable.
Additional Information
- Exempt Position: The offered compensation rate in Wisconsin will be determined by the individual’s education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000.
