Senior Data Engineer Job Opportunity at Dark Wolf Solutions

Dark Wolf Solutions is actively seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team in the Herndon, VA area with flexible hybrid work options. This position also requires presence at our site location in Falls Church, VA. We are looking for candidates with a robust background in computer science, extensive experience in Agile environments, and a profound understanding of DevOps practices. This role focuses on developing data-related services and applications for cloud platforms, especially AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize DevSecOps best practices to quickly develop and deliver top-notch solutions for DoD customers.
• Develop software using leading languages and frameworks, such as Python (FastAPI), AWS, and Rancher Kubernetes.
• Leverage Test Driven Development and User Centered design methodologies to automate testing and ensure software quality.
• Apply software design best practices to identify and analyze potential solutions, generate design diagrams, and engage in technical discussions with team and customer stakeholders.
• Embrace shared responsibility for system security.
• Perform threat modeling and introduce security measures throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Consistently engage with project teams to deliver high-quality products.
• Participate in daily standups, sprint planning/review meetings, discovery workshops, and customer demo sessions.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of professional experience working in Agile teams using DevOps practices to develop data-related services and applications for cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks, including Python (FastAPI, Django, Flask), JavaScript (Node.js, Express, Vue, Svelte, React), and Java (Spring Boot).
• Experience designing and implementing data solutions, including OpenAPI-compliant data schemas, REST APIs, and SQL-based data persistence and querying.
• Experience with AWS cloud solutions, emphasizing data services such as S3, RDS, and EMR.
• US Citizenship and Secret security clearance.

Desired Qualifications

• M.S. in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with AI/ML technologies.
• Experience with Kubernetes (Rancher RKE2, AWS EKS) and microservice architectures.
• Experience with data engineering and big data technologies like Apache Airflow, Trino, and AWS EMR.
• Knowledge of the NIST Risk Management Framework and security accreditation processes.

This position is based in Herndon, VA, and the selected candidate must report onsite daily. The anticipated salary range is $155,000.00 - $195,000.00, depending on experience.
