Job Description
What’s the role?
Data scientists at Etsy utilize rigorous methods to generate insights that inform product, engineering, and business decisions throughout the company. We collaborate with partner teams through all stages of development: proactively discovering opportunity areas, designing experiments to test hypotheses, analyzing the effects of our initiatives, and highlighting key learnings.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Analytics Manager, Product Analytics. The base salary range will be from 130,000 -164,000 USD per annum. Additionally, you'll be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits supporting you and your family. This role requires your in-person or flex presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn office. We give priority to candidates within commuting distance of the Brooklyn Hub. What does the day-to-day look like?
In this role, you will:
Take the lead on all analytical aspects of the organization - from sizing opportunities, building business cases, to measuring success through online/offline experimentation. Collaborate closely with Machine Learning and Applied scientists to measure and identify areas of improvement for our Estimated Delivery Date models. Work in close association with senior management within the Fulfillment organization to shape Etsy’s fulfillment strategy and vision. Build network models to discover opportunities in Etsy’s network design and service level optimization. Conduct various cost, speed, and reliability optimization analyses to provide tactical recommendations and actionable insights. Identify factors that improve shipping time estimates for our buyers.
Qualifications
You should have:
At least five years' experience as a logistics analyst, operations researcher, data scientist, or data analyst, where you've independently drawn meaning from large data sets with minimal engineering support. Mastery of SQL and proficiency in R/Python. Experience with network analysis & modeling and/or carrier contract modeling. Preferred experience in logistics optimization software (Llamasoft/Coupa, etc.). Working knowledge of speed, reliability, and cost tradeoffs in an e-commerce or online marketplaces setting. Comfortable conveying complex insights into compelling narratives for senior executives, both verbally and visually.
