Senior DATA Specialist Position in Internal Audit

As a Senior DATA Specialist within our Internal Audit (IA) team, you will be pivotal in advancing our Data Analytics capabilities to bolster risk insights and assurance coverage. IA consists of multiple teams that work collectively to support the ANZ Group, ensuring we navigate safely and swiftly with enterprise-wide perspectives and independent oversight. Leveraging technology, data, and automation is crucial for driving innovation and supporting ANZ Group's functions.

This role may also extend support to Suncorp Bank, pending its acquisition by ANZ Group, which is subject to legislative amendments by the Queensland Parliament and approval by the Federal Treasurer. The acquisition is anticipated to complete around mid-calendar year 2024.

Daily Responsibilities

As a Senior DATA Specialist, you will:

• Contribute to and execute Internal Audit's Data Analytics strategy
• Partner with individual audit teams to deliver assurance and consulting activities
• Establish continuous monitoring of key business risks and controls
• Develop innovative Group-wide and Divisional dashboards
• Undertake targeted business data interrogation
• Embed a data-analytics-driven culture within Internal Audit

Required Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you should ideally have:

• Technical expertise in data analytics, especially within the banking industry and consulting, as well as experience in internal audit, risk, or similar areas
• Comprehensive understanding and implementation across the analytics lifecycle – exploratory data analysis, data modelling and design, data wrangling, data quality, hypothesis testing, data visualisation, and dashboard design
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Qlik, Python, KNIME, and SQL
• Exposure to React, Big Data / Machine Learning Techniques (such as GCP ML) is a plus
• Strong problem-solving and quantitative analysis skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside listening and interpreting skills
• The ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
• Persistence in achieving goals despite obstacles or setbacks
• Qualifications in Data/Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Information Systems, or related fields
