Job Description Visa Research, a part of our company's initiative to expand global technology research capabilities, conducts both applied and fundamental research. Engaging with our technology and product teams, external business partners, academics, and governments, we explore and develop future-critical technologies for the payments industry. Our focus is on building research teams in important areas, including Data Analytics, Security, Future of Payment (Blockchain), and Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence: As part of our Data Analytics team, our goal is to unearth the untapped potential of the massive, high-quality financial data at our disposal. By decoding the language of transactions, we spark innovation within - and beyond - the payments industry. Our research encompasses areas like deep learning applications in financial data, predictive modelling for fraud and risk management, recommendation systems, user behaviour modelling, and privacy-preserving data analytics. Security: Our security team aims to ensure policy-enforced, comprehensive protection for data throughout its lifecycle - whether at rest, in transit, or during computation, across all payment situations. Toward this goal, we conduct fundamental and applied research in Cryptography, Distributed and Endpoint Systems Security, and Secure Data Acquisition and Analysis. Blockchain: Our Blockchain research seeks to understand the underlying principles of cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology. We collaborate with leading academic institutions and Blockchain researchers worldwide to foster technologies that promise to revolutionise the financial industry in the coming decade. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: We seek students pursuing a Ph.D. who will graduate in December 2024 or later. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong communications skills, with no recurring grammatical or typographical errors and clear, concise, and professional verbal and written communication. Preferred Qualifications: A strong research background with proven impacts in the research community, demonstrated through multiple publications, patents, or conference presentations is desirable. For our AI/Data Analytics team, candidates should be proficient in object-oriented programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, and Lua. They should have experience handling large scale data processes using Hadoop and MapReduce and conducting research in Trustworthy, Ethical, or Fairness AI. Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, a keenness to collaborate, creative thinking abilities, a problem-solving mindset, and solid leadership skills. Additional Information U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $46/hr to $52/hr USD. This might include possible sales incentive payments. The salary may vary depending on various job-related factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may be eligible for a bonus, equity, and benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and a Wellness Program. Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department Travel Requirements: This position requires 5-10% travel. Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be office-based. It will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in-person and over telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment like telephones and computers.
