Key Responsibilities
The Core Data Scientist will:
- Drive innovation in the underwriting process by collaborating closely with various stakeholders including clients, underwriters, and actuaries.
- Develop and manage advanced statistical, predictive, and machine learning models.
- Enhance model interpretability utilizing thorough knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning techniques.
- Explore innovative machine learning methods and tools to stay at the cutting edge of technology.
- Disseminate data science knowledge within SCOR globally through seminars and publications.
- Present complex results clearly to stakeholders, aiding in strategic decision-making.
- Support strategic initiatives aimed at transforming processes, such as underwriting, from a machine learning perspective.
- Ensure adherence to Information Security policies and best practices.
Required Experience & Competencies
The ideal candidate will have:
- 1-3 years of experience in data science with strong programming skills, particularly in Python or R.
- Proven experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Advanced knowledge of both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
- Experience in the insurance industry is preferred but not essential.
- A strong ability to communicate complex concepts to a global audience.
Education Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- A Master’s degree or higher (PhD preferred) in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree plus actuarial qualifications or equivalent professional experience can suffice.
