About the Role & Team

The Subscriber Lifecycle Analytics team is seeking a Data Analyst to help measure, understand, and mitigate subscriber churn across Disney's streaming services, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Our team specializes in exploratory data analysis, advanced reporting, data visualization, and storytelling to deliver actionable insights and recommendations that drive strategic business decisions. This role requires collaboration with various teams across the Direct to Consumer organization and other business units within The Walt Disney Company. Our analyses aim to influence business and operational plans at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex business questions into SQL involving cohorting, calculations, filtering criteria, and aggregations.
  • Communicate complex trends and churn drivers to a diverse range of business partners, from operational teams to executive audiences, through oral presentations and written reports.
  • Engage with other Analytics teams to evaluate the retention performance of key business initiatives across content, engagement, and marketing domains.
  • Build and maintain operational dashboards in Tableau and Looker to track performance over time, facilitate exploratory analysis, and equip partners with self-serve tools.
  • Collaborate closely with business partners (Product, Business Operations, Finance, Marketing, etc.) to identify and exploit opportunities for improved subscriber retention.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Data Analytics experience.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the capability to apply business strategy to data analysis and recommendations.
  • Strategic thinking ability, with skills in analyzing and interpreting first and third-party information.
  • Experience manipulating large data sets and interpreting data trends using diverse data sources and tools.
  • Proficiency in data exploration and data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills to solve issues, analyze causes, develop solutions, detail changes, and communicate organizational impacts.
  • Proven experience in detailing data requirements, data strategies, and data rules (standardization, cleansing, and validation).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the streaming media industry and/or supporting a direct-to-consumer or subscription-based product.
  • Experience in presenting and contributing to data stories shared with key business partners.

Compensation

The hiring range for this position is $98,000 to $131,300 annually in New York, NY, and $93,400 to $125,200 annually in Santa Monica, CA. The actual base pay offered will consider internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be included in the compensation package, along with a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
