We are excited to announce a compelling career opportunity within the Centre for Medical Informatics at the Usher Institute, part of the prestigious University of Edinburgh. We are actively seeking a qualified Data Analyst to embark on a fixed-term project from August 2024 to April 2030, based at our innovative Usher Building located at 5-7 Little France Rd, Bioquarter, Edinburgh, EH16 4UX.

The Role: Data Analyst – UE07 Salary Band: £39,347 - £46,974

This role is a full-time position offering a deep dive into the critical and evolving field of medical informatics. Specifically, you will focus on leveraging data-driven methodologies to integrate real-time research into the Intensive Care setting. The position promises a dynamic working environment where you will collaborate closely with a team of academics, clinicians, governance teams, and industry partners.

Your Impact:

As a Data Analyst, you will:

  • Develop innovative models to identify and predict health conditions within ICU patient data.
  • Work with complex, confidential health datasets including SMR01, SICSAG, and cutting-edge ICU systems.
  • Design and refine systems and interfaces that provide critical feedback to healthcare professionals.

Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A strong academic background in a scientific or quantitative field, or equivalent industry-related experience.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and statistical programming languages like Python or R.
  • A robust understanding of data extraction, transfer, and transformation for comprehensive statistical analysis.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and collaborative skills, essential for team-based work and relationship building.
