About the Role: Data Engineering Manager, Services

As an integral leader within our Data Engineering team, you'll manage a talented group of Data Engineers, ML Engineers, and Science Data Experts. You will drive the development of cutting-edge data products that are essential to the functionality of our apps. Your role will not only involve technical management but also strategic planning, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to bring new data science solutions to fruition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the data engineering team through coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Act as a key liaison between the data engineering team and product management to innovate and integrate new data science solutions.
  • Efficiently manage and prioritize data-centric projects from conception through delivery.
  • Assist in recruitment and hiring efforts across our product and engineering teams.
  • Ensure Service Level Objectives (SLOs) are defined, tracked, and met.
  • Keep abreast of the latest industry trends and advancements in data engineering technology.

About You:

  • Robust background in computer science with expertise in data structures, distributed systems, and software/system design.
  • A Minimum of 8 years' experience in software development and 3-5 years in a data-oriented leadership role.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and managing projects involving large datasets.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical information.
  • Experience in Python, Java, Go, Elixir, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes are highly desirable.
