Would you like to shape the future of insurance through data science? We are searching for a Data Scientist to join our rapidly expanding data organization. The ideal candidate is keen on diving into data and thinking analytically about business challenges and user behaviors. If you have an intuitive knack for recognizing critical analytical questions, the technical adeptness for complex investigations, and the communication ability to translate ideas into action, join us!
What You'll Do:
- Analyze in-depth to improve insurance product performance, focusing on pricing and underwriting
- Identify opportunities related to growth and profitability, assess their magnitude, and prioritize them
- Collaborate with data engineering to build the appropriate data model, logging, and data pipelines
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners in strategizing their team's approach, then communicate their progress via designing accurate metrics and targets
- Convert data into clear, actionable, and compelling insights
- Develop dashboards to track progress towards objectives, understand metric triggers, and assist business stakeholders in making informed data-driven decisions
- Design experiments to influence product decisions
- Dish out statistical guidance regarding metric development
What We Need:
- Experience in a quantitative analysis role
- Desire to fully understand the insurance products on offer and potential levers
- Fluent in SQL and comfortable with less structured data formats like JSON
- Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis
- Ability to identify relevant metrics that can guide and influence stakeholders to draw appropriate and accurate insights
- Experience building clear and easy-to-understand dashboards
- Effective communication with cross-functional partners of varying technical levels
- Experience influencing product strategy with analyses
- A BA/BS degree
Unstoppable Qualities:
- Experience in insurance or financial services
- Experience with pricing and underwriting risk
- Applied knowledge of experiment design and causal inference, particularly non-A/B or RCT experiments
The salary range for this full-time position in Palo Alto, CA is $175,000—$205,000 USD per annum. What you're offered will depend on your job-related skills, experience, and education or training.
