About the Role

As the Director of Data Engineering, you will:

• Lead the development and implementation of sophisticated engineering products.
• Guide and expand a team of developers, fostering an environment of growth and innovation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Product Leads to design and implement pricing solutions based on the latest advances in pricing science.
• Ensure the adoption of engineering best practices and lead strategic initiatives to enhance our technology landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Management of engineering teams and guiding development projects from conception to implementation.
• Driving the personal and professional development of team members through continuous mentoring and skill enhancement.
• Proactively identifying and removing roadblocks to maintain team efficiency and effectiveness.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships within the Kroger Technology ecosystem to foster collaboration and synergy.

Desired Skills and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar technical field.
• At least 5-10 years of experience in a leadership role within a heavily tech-driven environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Agile methodologies, Python, Scala, Hadoop, Microsoft Azure, Generative AI, and Git.
• An innovative mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong analytical aptitude.
• Ability to lead in a dynamic environment with a customer-centric approach.

Location & Work Model

This is a hybrid position requiring presence in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each week. We are located in Cincinnati, OH, Chicago, IL, Deerfield, IL, New York, NY, and Portland, OR. Please note that remote working options are not available for this role.
