Job Description The Director of Data Engineering & Architecture assumes a leadership role in the design, development, and implementation of all data engineering and analytics initiatives within the organization. This role is crucial in leveraging data to guide decision-making, improve business operations, and secure a competitive edge. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy for data engineering and analytics, keeping in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives. - Collaborate with business leaders and technology peers to identify opportunities where data can create business value. - Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team consisting of data engineers, data analysts, data scientists, among others. - Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within and across other technology teams. - Outline the strategic, long-term approach for a scalable and flexible architecture for end-to-end data management to guide Vuori's analytics journey. - Serve as a thought leader in data architecture, data ingestion patterns, building high-performing data warehouses, and enabling self-service for global users. - Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of robust data architectures and infrastructures that support data collection, storage, processing, and retrieval. - Ensure data security, compliance, and data quality standards are met. - Define and build an enterprise data model and business semantic layer to enable reporting and self-service across the organization. - Define an approach towards the usage of advanced analytics in business enablement. - Establish processes for data visualization and reporting to provide actionable insights to stakeholders. - Implement data governance policies and procedures to maintain data integrity, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). - Define data retention policies and data lifecycle management strategies. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that data-driven insights are integrated into decision-making processes. - Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to executive leadership and key stakeholders. - Establish KPIs and metrics to measure the impact and effectiveness of data engineering and analytics initiatives. - Regularly review and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering); a Master's degree is preferred. - Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in data engineering, data analytics, and leadership roles, with a track record of delivering data-driven solutions. - Strong knowledge of data engineering concepts, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL processes, and cloud-based technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). - Proficiency in data analytics, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, Microstrategy among other tools). - Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment. - Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities. - Knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations. - Demonstrated experience managing budgets and resources and building high-performing teams.
