What You Will Do as an Engineering Manager

• Recruit and retain top-tier software engineering talent.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor, and supporting career development.
• Diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that hinder high-quality software delivery.
• Hold regular 1-1 meetings with team members.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other Engineering Managers to strategize and achieve key business objectives, managing upstream and downstream dependencies.
• Partner with Product Managers on project planning and roadmap development.
• Contribute intellectually to the software, data, processes, and growth of other team members.
• Participate in writing applicable patents for your groundbreaking work.
• Set examples for high code quality through unit testing, good variable naming, and modularity.
• Own products/features at multiple levels—code, data, metrics, and support frequency reduction.
• Ensure new features are adequately tested at scale prior to release.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 5+ years of experience managing a team.
• 9+ years of experience in delivering software.
• Proficiency in Python.
• BS/MS in Software Engineering or an equivalent degree.
• Experience leading by influence in multi-team, cross-functional projects.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Machine Learning (ML).
• Application benchmarking and optimization.

Interpersonal Attributes

• Understanding that software engineering work extends beyond just writing code.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with a team.
• A strong sense of project ownership and the drive to see them through to conclusion.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of teaching and explaining the rationale behind technical decisions.
• Willingness to evolve with the role and take on new challenges as they come.
