As a Lead Applied Machine Learning Scientist within our Trust & Safety Payments Organization, you'll be instrumental in developing advanced machine learning models aimed at ensuring secure transactions for SMBs. You will work with a variety of AI and machine learning algorithms to design state-of-the-art solutions, protecting vital Wire/ACH and card transactions worth several trillion dollars.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop sophisticated machine learning models to detect various types of payment fraud, including merchant fraud and risk.
  • Analyze large datasets using advanced techniques, deliver insights, and communicate findings with key stakeholders.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of model development from data extraction to deployment and continuous evaluation in production settings.
  • Design and implement knowledge graphs incorporating data from diverse third-party sources.
  • Work closely with Business, Operations, and Product teams to create effective risk and fraud management solutions.
  • Instill a culture of AI/ML-first approach in developing fraud and risk solutions to enhance operational excellence.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Artificial Intelligence.
  • Strong grasp of machine learning and modeling practices with algorithms like decision trees, random forests, neural networks, and graph models.
  • Expertise in data preprocessing, feature extraction, model building, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in SQL databases and programming languages (Python or Java).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with machine learning APIs and computational frameworks (XgBoost, Pandas, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, NumPy, SciPy).
  • At least 5 years of experience with big-data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Flink).

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in AI/ML within the Payments sector is highly advantageous.
