Are you a data enthusiast with a passion for clean energy technology? At Eversource Energy, we're on the lookout for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Advanced Modeling and Forecasting team. This hybrid role requires the first three months in-office full-time.

About the Role

As a member of our team, you'll have an influential role in shaping and optimizing billions of dollars in grid investments over the next decade. Your work will support a safe and effective transition to a clean energy future, ensuring the highest standards of reliability and resiliency. We're striving for "best in class" data, analytics, and application practices to build the most advanced Distributed Energy Resources (DER) forecasting system in the nation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage models for long-term forecasting of load, solar, storage, and transportation electrification.
  • Collect, preprocess, and analyze historical data to calibrate and validate forecasting models.
  • Monitor and improve the performance of forecasting models.
  • Research and stay updated on emerging technologies and regulatory policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, and energy efficiency experts.
  • Provide technical support on DER forecasting and power systems analysis.
  • Document advanced forecasting efforts and integrate new processes.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience in energy demand forecasting and DER applications.
  • Proficient programming skills (e.g., Python, Spark, SQL).
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Databricks).
  • Familiarity with predictive analytics and statistical modeling.
  • Understanding of distribution engineering and system planning.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience as a data scientist, with fewer years required if possessing advanced degrees.
  • Experience with time series data, PI SCADA systems, DER management platforms, AMI, and geospatial tools (e.g., ArcGIS, Google Earth).
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to DERs.

Compensation & Benefits

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Annual salaries for this position range from $117,000.00 to $130,000.00, plus incentives, commensurate with your experience. For an overview of our comprehensive benefits, visit our career site.

Working Conditions

Availability for emergency restoration assignments is a must. Travel between MA/CT/NH may be required.
