Position Summary: Senior Data Scientist

NRG and Vivint are on the lookout for a skilled Senior Data Scientist to spearhead our endeavors in refining and advancing our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) initiatives. The selected candidate will be instrumental in utilizing data-driven insights to boost the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our VPPs. This role involves extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams to devise and implement sophisticated analytics solutions, driving strategic decisions and shaping the future of energy management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transform complex business issues into analytical model requirements, maintaining excellence in execution.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and trends that enhance business value.
  • Work alongside engineering teams to implement scalable solutions and integrate analytics into existing frameworks.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to stakeholders through vivid visualizations, reports, and presentations.
  • Engage with product managers and stakeholders to comprehend business needs, prioritize projects, and provide actionable insights.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in handling timestamped event data and standard data transformations.
  • Strong background in applying quantitative methods to solve analytical problems, particularly in Machine Learning, Statistical Modeling, Forecasting, or Energy.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, and various dashboarding platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Python and associated ML/Data Science frameworks.
  • Experience with Advanced Data Models, ML, and A/B Testing.
  • A Graduate Degree in a Quantitative Field (Math, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science) or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
