Senior Research Leader - Advanced Technology Group (ATG) - Dolby R+D Center, Bangalore

In this role, you'll be part of Dolby’s premier Advanced Technology Group (ATG). ATG is the research hub that innovates in technologies across audio, video, AR/VR, and more, applied to gaming, music, broadcast, and user-generated content. We seek expertise in a range of fields such as AI/ML, computer vision, image processing, algorithms, digital signal processing, audio engineering, data science, cloud computing, and more.

Scope and Responsibilities

Dolby’s audio and video technologies are embedded in billions of devices worldwide. We are building an expansive data platform to understand how our technologies are used daily. We are seeking a Data Scientist Lead Researcher/Manager to spearhead our data science initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing large datasets from various systems using AI.
• Developing statistical models and prediction algorithms for various data types.
• Leading a team to create data analysis tools and automated analytics.
• Developing methodologies for scalable deployment of deep neural networks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cutting-Edge Research

Conduct and apply state-of-the-art research in data science, machine learning, and statistical methods on large multimedia datasets. Develop next-generation data augmentation tools and delivery pipelines to understand Dolby technology deployment.

2. Team Leadership and Talent Development

Direct and mentor a team of data scientists, AI researchers, and computing experts. Foster an innovative, dynamic, and transparent working environment. Mentor junior researchers to work independently.

3. Technology Strategy and Direction

Influence technology strategy based on data insights and collaborate with various teams. Manage end-to-end data science initiatives including scoping, building, testing, implementation, and optimization. Work closely with upper management and present insights using data visualization techniques.

Education & Experience

Ph.D. along with 8+ years of industrial experience in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields. Proven expertise in AI, statistical signal processing, decision theory, Bayesian modelling, hypothesis testing, and related areas. Ability to design experiments, define hypotheses and develop statistical models. Extensive experience with big data solutions, statistics, and programming languages. Strong background in managing both structured and unstructured data and modern data transformation methodologies.
