Summary

We are excited to announce an opening for a Staff SRE (Service Reliability Engineer) within our Cloud Data Store (CDS) team. This team is pioneering cloud storage solutions and reimagining the persistence layer of Temporal in innovative ways. We address challenging distributed systems problems related to databases and cloud storage functions. The CDS team's mission is to enhance reliability and scalability while reducing operational costs for Cloud Temporal.

What You’ll Do

• Be the first Service Reliability Engineer in the CDS team.
• Design, develop, and implement systems to boost the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Service and the CDS team.
• Work collaboratively across teams to ensure exceptional service reliability during a period of hyper-growth and expansion.
• Implement best operational practices, such as alerting and runbooks, to manage and maintain a high-scale distributed database system efficiently.
• Drive the team towards achieving a high degree of automation.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience contributing to complex cross-team engineering efforts focused on cloud, compute, networking, and storage infrastructure.
• At least 10 years of coding experience (Go, Java, or other applicable language) with proficiency in writing concurrent code.
• Deep expertise in one or more cloud infrastructure environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• 6+ years in designing, building, and operating large, highly concurrent, reliable, and scalable distributed systems.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, demonstrated through clear communication and cross-team collaboration.
• A proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities for improving service reliability.
• Experience in driving alignment across an organization and contributing to long-term roadmaps.
• Thorough understanding of SRE principles, including monitoring, alerting, error budgets, fault analysis, and failover.
• A fresh perspective and beginner’s mindset to improve team velocity while maintaining high quality.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

Compensation

The estimated pay range for this role is $175,000 - $240,000. Additionally, this position qualifies for participation in Temporal's equity plan.

Compensation packages are determined based on several factors, including prior experience, expertise, skill set, market location, and job level evaluated during the interview process.
