About the Team
At E.ON, our data capabilities are divided into two main pillars: “data as an asset to innovation” and “data usages such as AI and data analytics”. As a Technical Data Governance Manager, you will focus on the first pillar, designing and rolling out data governance and management capabilities across various digital technologies, platforms, and business units to support our data strategy. In this role, you will define and implement processes that promote data governance, compliance, and organizational growth in data capabilities and skills.
You will work with the central Data Architecture & Governance team, collaborating closely with data and technical teams, as well as key stakeholders in Digital Strategy, Data Protection, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, and business units across Europe. Additionally, you will support multiple business units in their data governance and data strategy initiatives.
Meaningful & Challenging - Your Tasks
- Design, implement, and scale data governance processes across various data programs and systems.
- Automate process and status documentation of metadata within a dedicated data catalogue, complex ETL processes, and governance and compliance requirements.
- Collect compliance and business requirements, coordinate task forces, and provide guidance.
- Further develop the central data governance framework, including defining and rolling out roles and responsibilities.
- Contribute to the data strategy and support its group-wide technical implementation.
- Promote upskilling and knowledge sharing on data governance and management across the group.
- Lead the definition and operationalization of sub-strategies for data management and governance.
- Identify industry-wide trends and data-driven innovation opportunities.
Authentic & Ambitious - Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in data engineering, data modelling, informatics, data science, economics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in project management, data engineering, and technical operationalization of data governance roles and processes.
- In-depth knowledge of data management, governance, strategy, and architecture tools and technologies (e.g., Erwin DIS, Collibra, SAP MDM), data lake architecture (e.g., Azure Data Lake), and programming languages (e.g., SQL).
- Proficiency in metadata management concepts and technical connections to scan databases, firewalls, reporting tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or Qlik.
- Experience in building enterprise business glossaries and rolling out data ownership and stewardship in data catalog tools.
- Strong experience in international management of large-scale data enablement and transformation projects in regulated and dynamic industries.
- Excellent consulting, facilitation, and communication skills, the ability to simplify complex data concepts, and translate them into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Ability to link legal obligations with organizational and technical implications.
