Job Opportunity: Data Engineer III at Walmart Global Tech
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our expanding team of engineering professionals in the Finance Data Factory at Walmart Global Tech. This role is pivotal in expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, enhancing data flow, and ensuring seamless data collection for cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do

- Build and maintain optimal data platform and pipeline architecture.
- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements such as automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
- Create infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from diverse sources using SQL and GCP big data technologies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams to support data infrastructure needs.
- Develop data tools for analytics team members to assist in building and optimizing our product into an industry leader.
- Work closely with data and analytics experts to enhance the functionality of our data systems.
What You'll Bring
- Advanced working knowledge with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
- Proficiency in performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes.
- Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
- Ability to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
- Experience with manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets.
- Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable big data stores.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams.
- A minimum of 3 to 6 years of experience in a Data Engineer role.
- A Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field.
- Experience with tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and relational SQL and NoSQL databases including Big Query and Cassandra.
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools like Airflow.
- Experience with GCP cloud services such as GCS, Dataproc, Dataplex, and stream-processing systems like Spark-Streaming and Storm.
- Proficiency in object-oriented/scripting languages like Python, Scala.
