Job Description
The Master Data Manager serves as an escalation point for governance, data quality, and protection issues, partnering with Business and Functional area leaders to improve the quality and value of core data assets, process and system program priorities, projects, and to support the department's strategic requirements.
Job Description
- Create and manage a global master data organization.
- Merge teams across the company into one centralized global team.
- Centralize data management and data quality processes from multiple systems into one standard set of procedures.
- Identify and standardize the utilization and governance of data in support of the overall global business strategy.
- Create and govern a data governance roadmap, detailing strategic priorities for developing data-based capabilities.
- Discover new types and sources of data that can boost business innovation across the organization.
- Design processes for the effective and integrated introduction of new data.
- Oversee data stewardship business process descriptions and process models/maps.
- Create and oversee policies and programs reinforcing the role of business data stewards in line with legal, security around sensitive data, and corporate risk.
- Cooperate with Global Data Stewards to establish data standards and rules for cleaning, mapping, integrating, managing, and setting up hierarchies for key company data.
- Show leadership in the areas of data governance, master data management, and data migration to the process and system teams during blueprinting, deployment, and steady-state operational activities.
- Evolve and instil behaviours appropriate for the use of information within changing privacy necessities, ethical values, and cultural norms.
- Lead a data governance council.
- Work alongside the Enterprise Data Architect and business functions to enact an enterprise-wide data governance framework. This focus is on improving data quality through alterations to organizational behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture.
- Work closely with IT to aid the evolution of multiple ERPs.
- Collaborate with IT to provide progress reports to board management and routinely update the Department Data Governance Roadmap
- Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline costs related to those services.
- Identify new business opportunities related to the use of information assets to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the market, representing data as a strategic business asset at the senior management table.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 7 years of experience in a major services organization, with large-scale data or project management and oversight experience.
- Experience in manufacturing.
- More than 5 years in a progressive leadership role, including leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, and handling change or transformation leadership.
- More than 5 years leading teams responsible for ERP data management.
- Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards.
- Knowledge of industry-leading data quality and data protection management practices.
- Ability to convey a vision of transformation efforts and a sense of mission.
- Willingness to lead change and provide direction.
- Work closely with IT to support the evolution of multiple ERPs (Oracle Fusion).
- Results-oriented nature, willingness to commit to a direction, and ability to drive operations to completion.
- Proven ability to manage adversity and challenging situations.
- Ability to manage senior relationships across all the Business and Functional areas.
- Skills in handling complaints, settling disputes resolve conflicts, and negotiating with others. Ability to develop cooperative and constructive working relationships.
- A willingness to collaborate as a team player in work relationships, strong cultural awareness and the ability to effectively lead a team through periods of change.
- Highly developed skills in priority setting and alignment of project priorities with Departmental strategy.
