At Reality Labs, a pioneering division of Meta, we are excited to announce an opening for a Research Engineer on our dynamic Large Language Model (LLM) Research team. This role is central to our device-driven AI Assistant initiative, working to advance the frontiers of conversational AI technologies.

Key Responsibilities

As a Research Engineer, you will:

  • Develop innovative methods, tools, and infrastructures to enhance the capabilities of large language models.
  • Set clear research objectives that integrate practical engineering considerations.
  • Design and execute experiments, manage the coding process, run evaluations, and compile organized findings.
  • Optimize machine learning methodologies to leverage modern parallel computing environments such as distributed clusters and GPUs.
  • Collaborate with a large, globally distributed team.
  • Support our open-sourcing and publication efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or possess equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven research experience in fields like machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.
  • Experience in developing scalable machine learning models from inception to impactful deployment.
  • Programming skills in Python and familiarity with frameworks such as PyTorch.
  • An understanding of the architectural patterns used in large-scale software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will further demonstrate:

  • A Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, AI, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience in generative AI and LLM research.
  • Authorship of peer-reviewed papers in major AI conferences such as NeurIPS, CVPR, or ICML.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary for this position ranges from $177,008 to $251,000 per year, complemented by a competitive package including bonuses, equity, and numerous benefits. Specifics of the compensation package are based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
