Salary: £39,347 - £46,974

Contract Type: Full-time (35hrs per week), Fixed Term from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2028

About the Position

The Centre for Medical Informatics at the Usher Institute, part of The University of Edinburgh, is excited to offer a position for a Research Fellow specializing in Machine Learning and Data Science. This role is key to supporting groundbreaking statistical learning methods within the UKRI Hub for Metabolic Psychiatry.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

  • Design and implement machine learning and statistical methods, such as Mendelian randomisation, latent class analysis, time series analysis, and structural equation modelling.
  • Work collaboratively with diverse teams, including co-investigators and project partners from prestigious institutions such as Kings College London and the University of Exeter.
  • Contribute to the Hub for Metabolic Psychiatry’s multidisciplinary programmes and initiatives.

Who Should Apply?

Individuals with:

  • A PhD (or near completion) in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or related fields.
  • Strong background in data science and experience with heterogeneous, time-based datasets.
  • Proven capability in employing advanced statistical and machine learning methods for biological data analysis.
  • Excellent programming skills and experience in creating data curation and sharing platforms.
