Job Description

The Data Scientist will be a part of Cash App's Compliance Business Analytics team, serving compliance and business stakeholders to help Cash App's growth. You'll become an expert in identifying and communicating the potential risks of new and existing products on compliance operations and costs. As Cash App grows, we need to stay ahead of compliance risk and prevent unwanted activities on the platform. You will play a vital role in this task by overseeing analysis, investigations, and metrics. You'll work with product and compliance teams to identify and monitor new and existing bad behavior to guide controls and compliance monitoring.

You Will:

  • Analyse different customer segments and/or products to identify compliance risk areas
  • Perform statistical analysis and testing to measure the effectiveness and impact of current and future controls
  • Manage executive-level reporting and metrics to measure risk and bad activity on the platform over time
  • Create data models to facilitate reports on bad activity
  • Discover significant insights into compliance-related issues, including: new risks, compliance operating effectiveness, risk tolerance, product launches and usage, important performance and risk indicators
  • Use raw data to help partners understand the impact of new regulations, policies, or environmental changes on our compliance program and the Cash App platform
  • Cooperate with partners from engineering to customer experience to inform strategic builds of crucial compliance program elements
  • Communicate findings to cross-functional teams and influence them to take action based on your recommendations

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 6+ years of related experience and a Master’s degree; a PhD with 3+ years experience
  • Expertise in SQL and data analysis/visualization tools (Tableau, Looker)
  • Proficiency in scripting and data analysis programming languages (Python or R)
  • Experience in using data to solve complicated, ambiguous problems
  • The ability to define problems and manage projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Experience in effective written and verbal communication, data visualization for any audience

Additional Information

Block sets pay based on a market-based approach, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are segmented into one of four categories, determined by a labor cost index for that geographic area. The pay of the successful candidate will be established based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Pay may be adjusted in the future.
