Staff Engineer, Machine Learning

We're hiring a Staff Engineer to develop new products and enhance all facets of the Narvar platform. With data at the core of our competitive edge, your work will greatly impact the company, our business partners, and our end users. At Narvar, Machine Learning Engineers work across the system. We are 'full-stack' ML engineers, writing production-level code and overseeing ML and Data Ops for our teams. Day-to-day - Build machine learning pipelines for use cases spanning e-commerce, consumer trends, markets, logistics, and new products - Work on real world consumer data for natural language processing, image classification, time series analysis, outlier detection, user modeling, etc. - Work with large unstructured data - Interact with mathematics, machine learning, business, and computer science, impacting millions of users through your work - Enhance your data science and data team members' effect by developing frameworks, tools, and methodologies that the entire team uses - Provide thought leadership to a team through high-quality write-ups, reviews, and a clear vision grounded in practical experience and a broader industry perspective What we're looking for - Data science skills. Experience with machine learning or optimization modeling and ability to create visualizations to convey a story - Data engineering skills and large data experience. You should have handled large amounts of data (TB) in a production setting, and built top-notch data pipelines using cutting edge tools (eg: Spark, Hadoop etc) - 5+ years of hands-on experience shipping models to production, working on various problem spaces (eg: user modeling, spam classification, prediction, clustering etc) - MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Science (physical or social), Engineering or a similar quantitative and computational field plus 5+ years of industry experience - Strong software engineering and coding skills with the ability to write production quality code - Solid grasp of probability & statistics, and/or machine learning, and algorithms - Proficiency in Python, R, Pandas, numpy, and machine learning packages - Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases - Experience working with Linux, shell scripting - Prior startup experience is highly preferred Bonus Points - Experience implementing applications on Amazon AWS or Google Cloud Platform - Experience with deep generative models is a plus. - Tag your application with your solution to an active/recently finished Kaggle competition, to get ahead of the list :) - Experience leading a team of data and data scientists; Strong ability to amplify the team and team members' effect; excellent written communication; self-starter that can balance sophistication with practicality Why Narvar?
