Position Overview

Chai Discovery is on the lookout for a skilled AI Engineer to play a pivotal role in the development of our next-generation AI x Biology foundation models and real-world drug discovery applications. This full-time role is based in San Francisco, CA and involves working closely with our founding team to build, optimize, and manage the software and infrastructure driving our AI-powered drug discovery pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI researchers to design, implement, and maintain software systems supporting AI-driven drug discovery applications.
• Develop and optimize high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure.
• Integrate AI models into production systems, platforms, and front-end applications, ensuring scalability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
• Deep understanding of operating system internals (Unix).
• Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure like Slurm and Kubernetes.
• Experience with performance engineering, including profiling tools, optimizing CPU and GPU workloads, and writing CUDA and Triton kernels.
• Experience in writing, building, and maintaining large-scale ETL pipelines.
• Experience with deep learning libraries such as PyTorch.
