Job Description

This role presents an exciting opportunity for an outstanding junior attorney to become an integral part of our legal team at a fast-growing biotechnology startup. The Contracts Counsel will offer extensive commercial legal support, manage our contract database (LinkSquares), and interact closely with our business teams to drive the company’s financial and operational success.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a direct legal advisor to all business units on corporate, commercial, transactional, and contract matters
  • Draft, review, and revise various contracts including vendor agreements, confidentiality agreements, license agreements, supply agreements, consulting agreements, and master service agreements
  • Engage in commercial negotiations with internal clients and third parties
  • Support other transactional matters as needed
  • Maintain template agreements and manage the internal contract management system

About You

  • Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor (JD) degrees with strong academic credentials; science background preferred
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in transactional and contract drafting and negotiation at a mid- to large-sized law firm or established company
  • Member in good standing of a state bar association, with a preference for California
  • Experience with Master Service Agreements, Contract Manufacturing Agreements, Quality Agreements, particularly GMP agreements, is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing workloads with changing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Independent work capability with sound judgment to know when to seek guidance
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills at all organizational levels
  • Experience in-house at a life sciences company or in the life sciences group at a law firm is a plus but not required
  • Understanding of intellectual property is preferred

Additional Information

This position may require occasional evening and weekend work to meet obligations and infrequent overnight travel.
